After much research, brainstorming and many, many cups of tea, the Darwen Days Team are currently creating a new feature for the website which will be added gradually over the next few weeks. Whether you've always been a Darrener or have moved here recently, I think we can all agree that our much-loved town has some pretty amazing views; steep hills, rolling moors and cobbled streets surround us and like us, I'm pretty sure you all have a favourite. Some like to stand on Bailey's Field and look across the valley, others like the serenity of the lake in Bold Venture Park and the odd few are partial to Devil's Brew- what we'd like to know is what's your favourite view of Darwen? It doesn't have to be on the moors or within the scenery of one of our many parks- it just needs to be your favourite. Once you've decided, please contact us in the usual ways to let us know, and if you have a photo of your favourite view- that would be even better! All will soon be revealed.
Thank you so much for your continued support!
We have designed the Darwen Days website to be a local historical resource for old and young alike.
If you are looking for a specific location, such as a street for example, or perhaps an image from a specific year, simply type this into the Search Box on the top right of the page. This also works for last names and other keywords, such as events ('Darwen Gala'). If you simply want to spend a few hours going through the galleries, click here.
If you need to check the specific date from an event in Darwen's rich history, visit our Timeline by clicking here. You will also find links to associated media such as photographs or videos on our Timeline too.
To search our videos, you can click on our Videos page or simply visit our YouTube channel by clicking here.
If you are on Instagram, you can find us posting the odd historical photo but more often or not recent material by clicking here.
As well as our Facebook Page- where Darwen Days began, we're also on Twitter, so if the former is not your thing, you can follow and tweet us by clicking here.
Finally, to read up on any developments or updates from the Darwen Days Team, simply visit our Blog by clicking here. If you have a Google+ profile, you can comment on any of the news stories that we publish.
As always, Darwen Days is only able to exist on the generosity of others - donations of photographs, cine film, videos and other memorabilia are gratefully received and will be preserved and treated with the utmost care. If you would like to make a donation of any kind, please Contact Us.
